Beginning your journey in therapy can be challenging and intimidating, and I believe that finding the right therapist for your unique needs is essential.

Just like all relationships, a beneficial relationship with your therapist requires a particular chemistry - a spark, if you will.

We will work collaboratively to create a safe therapeutic environment where you feel supported as you work towards your goals. I offer a free phone consultation before getting started to see if we're the right fit.

Welcome - I am so glad you are here.

Dr. Carolyn Reynolds, Psy.D., HSP-P (she/her)

Licensed Health Service Psychologist

North Carolina License #6413

PsyPACT Authorized Provider

CAMS Trained & Certified

I am a licensed psychologist and spent most of my early career in academia. I have worked as an adjunct professor of psychology and as a clinician at multiple university counseling centers, including most recently as a staff psychologist at Duke University Counseling & Psychological Services.

Outside of clinical work, I can usually be found baking, hiking, reading, watching baseball, or spoiling my dogs.

My clinical specialties include ADHD/executive functioning, anxiety disorders, gender affirming care, religious trauma in the LGBTQ+ community, family of origin concerns, and self-compassion.

My therapeutic style is inquisitive, direct, humorous, and warm. I use a collaborative and strengths-based approach tailored to each individual to develop new patterns and coping strategies to reduce suffering. I draw from psychodynamic perspectives, attachment theory, mindfulness, and cognitive-behavioral therapy.

I maintain a feminist, sex-positive, and social justice-oriented lens in my clinical work, and recognize the detrimental impacts of marginalization in its various forms including racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, and xenophobia.
